Poetry News & Notes

Hello September! And hello to an end of summer heat wave!  Thank goodness my school has air conditioning.  And it’s not Labor Day yet, so I can still wear white, right?

So, I was a bit overzealous with my revision plans.  I noted that I had 12 poems to revise — I couldn’t get one of those revisions to work, although I think I came close with two or three.  I think these summer poems need to breathe a bit.  I need some new material.  I need to write some brand new poems.  Or else, I need to revise so drastically that my revisions look nothing like the poems I wrote this summer.

In other news, last week I got a letter from an editor who wants to see more of my work.  I keep thinking of Kelli’s post that she wrote at the start of August.  I will resend something to this editor.  I will.  I just have to figure out what.

Finally,  I got my first rejection from my summer submissions.  But I also got my first acceptance.  A note from Clay Matthews of  The Tusculum Review said that they would be happy to take my poem, “Stargazing Under the Influence.”  Exciting news, indeed!

  1. Hurrah! Tusculum looks terrific — congratulations!

  2. Excellent news! Big congrats on the acceptance.
